Issue number 21 Tuesday Talk 21 September 2004

Today is the International Day of Peace Vigil, a grassroots effort to bring a "spiritual dimension" to the peace process... commit to peace for 24 hours.

As I ponder life - experiences I have lived and those shared by others, I am enriched through empathy, compassion, and vicarious journeys as well as by my own steps through the days.  Another key event is the opening of the National Museum of the American Indian - learn more from their living wisdom at www.nmai.si.edu.

And so, here we sprinkle the sand in effort to enrich the flesh, the mind, the psyche, the spirit and the soul... for beauty is deep.

I wish you a day of peace... everlasting,

Tamara

EXPERIENCE

Yesterday, it was a rather hairy day during which I did not make time for me... My patience was thin; I was tired and feeling out of sorts.  I had to dig deep to be civil to my family when all I wished was for some solitude.  Sometimes so hard to find.  Though not very well, I held on to my self till I could retreat to my pillow, close my eyes and go to sleep - that serene place to rest and regenerate.  Upon awakening, the world seemed much more delightful than it had the day before, and I was better company to those around me.  So, the point is, my favorite beauty product is sleep.  It does wonders for the flesh, the mind, the psyche, the spirit and the soul.  Nourish your self with adequate rest.

And, when rested, test yourself for joy at www.authentichappiness.org and measure your current happiness among other determinations of contentment in your life.  Your results will be saved so you can check progress in creating the life you desire.  Enjoy!  and sweet dreams - day or night.

OBSERVATION

Time is energy. Each moment is potent, filled with enormous power. Each moment is an opportunity, never neutral. By tapping the energy of time, we conquer it. When we utilize and actualize the energy of the moment, time becomes our ally, launching us into another dimension. If we do not use the moment, the moment “dies”, and like deadweight it contributes to the erosion of our beings, as the clock of our lives ticks down.

We have the power to eternalize each moment in our lives. By filling it with meaning and spirit, time doesn’t merely pass but rather becomes a catalyst for achieving immortality.

My teacher reminds us to "Look at your day. How many of its moments are just fleeting specks lost in the shuffle of life. But then comes that one moment – just one second that can turn into magic, into an experience that lives on forever."

ADVICE

To keep the brain agile and strong, challenge your mind with puzzles and games, ponder new ideas, read, and learn something new.

TILT (This I Learned Today)

If you're feeling stressed or a bit anxious, or if you just need a pick-me-up, try the following breathing exercise; it can help bring energy and clarity to your mind. The first time, do it for just 15 seconds, increasing the duration by five seconds every time until you can complete one full minute. Always breathe normally between exercises.

- Sit upright with your back straight, eyes closed, and shoulders relaxed.

- Place the tip of your tongue against the bony ridge behind and above your upper teeth.

- Breathe rapidly through your nose, in and out, with your mouth slightly closed.

- Keep your inhale and exhale short and equal. Your chest should be almost mechanical in its movements - rapid, like air is pumping through it.

Inhale and exhale three times per second, if you can, keeping your breath audible.

Ideally, you will feel the muscular effects of this breathing exercise at the base of your neck (just above the collarbone) and at the diaphragm (by your tummy). Put your hands on these areas to get a sense of the movements.

Breathing is the key to releasing stress and re-energizing your body...so out with the bad air...in with the good. Inhale...Exhale...that's it...

AND A COUPLE OTHER THINGS

The way one copes with changes in appearance reflects one's sense of worth. When we're happy, doing what we love, feeling creative and fulfilled, appearance is at the bottom of our list of concerns. Become an elegant role model unafraid to celebrate the nuances that distinguish you, the proportions, the curves or lack of them, the wrinkles, silver hair - any hair color for that matter, or other signs of character and individuality.

Meanwhile, celebrate your self and nurture yourself with rest, contemplation, and the right unguents to tantalize your flesh, engage your mind, elevate your psyche, lift your spirit, stir your soul... And, I promise, more shall wash ashore from SandDollar Cosmetics Inc.
