EXPERIENCE

Everyday living is certainly challenging at times and can kick up stress - even without reading a newspaper or watching the news! Still, there's no need to feel tension. Here are some helpful stress-management tips that you can easily incorporate into your day.

BREATHE! Yep, deep soul-cleansings breaths. Take a big breath in and hold it for three seconds. Now let it out slowly. As you exhale, imagine seeing the tension in your body being expelled as well.

TAKE A WALK. Walking briskly is a great way to physically remove yourself from the stressful situation as well as a wonderful way to get rid of negative energy from your body and your mind, leaving you feeling relaxed and centered.

THINK ABOUT WHAT CALMS YOU. Perhaps watching waves lap up on a beach, working in the garden; talking to your friend or family. Take a moment to think about what soothes you. It couldn't hurt to occasionally avoid reading the newspaper or watching the news either! Enjoy a stress-free day...

OBSERVATION

There are many people out there who attack others simply because they have different beliefs. What would it be if they were to seek understanding, then celebrate the differences, or at least accept them.

ADVICE

Opening yourself to learning can change your life; your spirit can be totally renewed by the power of a wonderful life story, a well-written novel or a self-help book... go to the library or to the bookstore (peruse the listing on SandDollar and LiveInPeace) or visit B & N online to see what resonates with you today.

TILT (This I Learned Today)

The Farmer's Almanac, which has been in use since 1792, has a monthly chart that shows the best time to seek favors, begin dieting, start new projects, quit smoking ... all according to the stage of the Moon! If the Almanac recognizes the importance of the Moon its influence on our lives, who am I to disagree?

Evidently, the most powerful phase of the Moon is the Waxing Moon - the period of time from the New Moon to the Full Moon. This is the key time for using the Moon to help you make your dreams come true! For centuries, man has acknowledged that the phases of the Moon bring out the fullest potential of all living things. Farmers know that crops planted during the New Moon will yield an abundant harvest. Fishermen know that their largest catches will happen at the Full Moon! Even the seas respond to the Moon as it controls the rise of the tides. With the remarkable ability to affect billions of gallons of water in the ocean, the Moon must also have an effect on our bodies which are 70% water!
