EXPERIENCE I received an invitation to visit www.coopcomm.org for free on-line books and articles. The Cooperative Communication Skills web site includes a library of free books and essays on communication, peace education and personal growth. One of particular interest to me is the seven challenges, I invite you to "drop in" and peruse the documents ... pass it on. |

OBSERVATION When a three-year-old says "I hate you!" one realizes that these words indicate the child is hurt and angry; thus one usually does not become offended. However, when a 30-year-old says "I hate you!" one often does not see the hurt and anger behind the words, nor the child within crying out for help. We cannot always teach another how to express hurt; however, we can teach our self how to recognize it, and then to manage it, so we do not take offense, and instead offer comfort. |

TILT (This I Learned Today) It is
believed that much human misery and disease derives from
self-concern. Depression, anger,
loneliness and other immunity-suppressing emotions are
rooted in self-concern. To reduce such stress,
make
the following "other" connections to help you
focus outside of your self and help move you toward
achieving optimum health. 1) Connect
with nature and earth. Slow down, observe and
appreciate nature through walks, gardening, picnics or
other outdoor activities. 2) Connect with animals.
People with pets tend to be healthier, both mentally and
physically. The responsibility for a pet can put your
priorities in focus. Plus, animals provide unconditional
love. 3) Connect
with family. Instead of thinking of family as
"immediate" and "extended," consider your family
as just that: family. Near or far, family keeps us real. 4) Connect
with community. Interacting with those around you, and
in the area where you reside, is a good way to create a
sense of strength and comfort for yourself and others.
5) Connect
with a higher power. Regardless of what you believe,
sensing a connection with a power greater than yourself
is a way to be part of something larger, and to become
more connected with it. |

AND A COUPLE OTHER THINGS
This just in: "I got the SandDollarTM body & hair care set for my wife, AND, I have been using it too, especially the body wash. I normally use this citrus mint stuff, but I like the SandDollarTM body wash better - it is good stuff, not overly smelly. I like the fragrance, and it goes away. Now my wife and I are both fans!" ~ Sean, Plano TX
