In the stillness, sometimes we can hear the calling of our dreams. Beyond the obstacles, life waits to emerge anew.  Trust the seasons of your journey.

No worries,

EXPERIENCE

It is said that the universe listens to us and then brings us opportunities to fulfill our dreams.  So it's vital to know exactly for what you wish. To design my year, I created a list of goals I hope to achieve.  These are some of the things that I wish for 2005: Be in the moment always; hug my children often; be the right partner for my husband; call my grandmother weekly; see my friends every month; laugh off stress; foster harmony, among other things ...  I keep this aim in sight so I target my energy and, if needed, I can adjust.  Once I know what I wish to do, it's easy to make opportunities.  Consider making a plan to help you get focused on creating your life the way you want to live it!  For inspiration, read "I create my day."

OBSERVATION

One cannot choose how one feels, however one can choose what one does in response to the emotion.

ADVICE

Take charge of your happiness:  savor your self, laugh often, love what you do, find peace of mind.

TILT (This I Learned Today)

According to a study by the University of Zurich in Switzerland, the act of "getting even" feels good because it activates the brain's reward centers.  Eating chocolate appears to stimulate the brain in the same way.  So, consider enjoying a bag of M&M's instead of comeuppance, and call it just desserts.

Other ways to cool hot tempers (adapted from an article by Alice Lesch Kelly):

1.  Analyze your anger: it always has a message.  Think through the possible reasons for your reaction.

2.  Recognize the difference between feeling and action. Learn to express without hurting others or self.

3.  Don't let anger fester. Talk about it rather than stuffing it until you explode in a rage.

4.  Interrupt your physical response by taking a time out.  Walk, write, read, meditate, avoid alcohol.

5.  Get outside your head.  Breathe.  Step back physically or emotionally.

6.  Think before your talk.

7.  Respond without lashing out.  Speak rather than scream; converse rather than argue.

8.  Be curious before getting angry.  Make sure you're not misinterpreting things.

9.  Anticipate and plan for "triggers."  Recognize your hot buttons.

10. Get help when you need it.  Anger reactions are usually emotional habits that can be re-trained.
