Sometimes it feels as if all would be best if we could just wash it away and start anew.  That might be what is meant by living in the present and not in the past.  But even as time ebbs, it only rearranges the order of things, much as the waves washing ashore toss the sand and shells and stones, erasing the impression from footprints of the moment before.

In time and space,

Tamara

EXPERIENCE

In my commitment to peace-building in my self, and my intent to inspire peace & goodwill in the world, I have found another opportunity for exploration and sharing.  Beginning Thursday 9 June 2005, it is my honor to accept the role of columnist for the LivingPeace newsletter feature "The Peaceful Parent."  In this, I shall continue to evolve in the ways of peace, even as I learn from frustration, joy, anger, cooperation, mistakes and successes among other life lessons... with the intention of providing insights from my journey, each like a rung on a ladder, in order to help carry consciousness to where the view is clear.

OBSERVATION

Everything is neutral. One gives it meaning based on interpretation and past references.  When one just listens to the words, they are only words.  And inflections, intensity, volume, rhythm, etc. are only that ... and when put together, these things are just that - put together.  It is in observing these "chords" of events that one gives them meaning.  A bit of expanded "tree falls in the forest" ruminations...

ADVICE

Reflect, count your blessings, gravitate toward serenity and receive the vision of your new life.

TILT (This I Learned Today)

I recently visited the site of Yasmin Davidds and uncovered this treasure that I must share.  She outlines seven principles to help empower Latinas and strikes a chord that resonates for the evolution of all human beings.  Here are the topics in her CD series - and for each she gives some detail (follow the link for more).  Even this brief outline helps inspire mindfulness of how we can become whole.

Take Personal Responsibility for Your Life  We are responsible for becoming whole, emotionally and spiritually nourished, to question rules and beliefs that make no sense and to embrace life in the fullest.

Know & Love the Essence of Your True Self  Self-love is the essence of our being and the core of the soul so we must come to know our self and then we will know self-worth and self-love.

Believe in Your Self  Let go of self-defeating beliefs and replace them with soul-enhancing ideals.

Live in Truth  Learn to forgive, find hope and acceptance so to let go of burdensome shame.

Guilt is a Game You Can Choose Not to Play  Our choices are our own and we need not succumb to guilt trips, self-imposed or otherwise played.

Expect and Demand the Respect You Deserve  Establish boundaries, always express feelings (in a respectful way) and know you have a right to your point of view.

Embrace Your Fears  Let go of limiting beliefs and realize your full potential.

There are also inspiring stories on Yasmin's site, including one from author Clarissa Pinkola Estes.
