EXPERIENCE

There is something really uplifting to me about cleaning out the "stuff" that has collected over the years, and recycling that which has value and is no longer used while tossing the unusable.  It lightens my spirit and makes me feel as though I have space to breathe.  I guess it would help if I didn't have the tendency to be a pack-rat.  And, always, I find use for that thing I let go soon after it is gone.  Still, many other things go unmissed, and the clear shelves and uncluttered drawers are so welcoming.  Less is less to be concerned with, less to clean, less to "carry" and, thus, I guess, kind of enlightening...

OBSERVATION

Of course, with Memorial Day, it seems that war is everywhere through time while we honor the veterans of many a battle ...  And, with the abuse every government has allowed throughout history in the name of protecting its people, I fear that all people are actually put in greater danger due to the human proclivity toward retaliation and revenge.  It is as if by hurting others, one could pass the torch of pain along... but instead, there are just more fires lit and more torches of pain to carry.  How do we invoke forgiveness, tolerance and harmony?  What if this were what we pondered, not the many graves that are dug?  Blessings to all of the lives slaughtered in war... and to all the lives devoted to keeping peace.

ADVICE

When you are peeling away at the onion (life's layers), just remember, it is probably not as heavy as the mind makes it all seem...

TILT (This I Learned Today)

Well, the year is soon halfway through, and there are some "scales" I have not yet balanced - Time and Money being two of the majors.  Hoping my checkbook is at least close...  So, here is one tool that I think will be of interest, it is a website about managing moola: www.ihatefinancialplanning.com.

AND A COUPLE OTHER THINGS

We barbequed dinner tonight – my teen and her best friend hung out by the pool with us, then we had chicken and veggies hot off the grill.  The girls talked about their dreams of colleges and careers, and the immediate part-time summer dream job desires.  It made me consider what it is that I wish to be when I grow up...  life is a wonderful opportunity for reinvention.  Spend the time well.
